Regardless of your background, everyone from serial entrepreneurs to those who are just curious about startups are encouraged to attend! Bottom line: if you are motivated to build a startup or product, and are up to a challenge, this event is for you!
  • If I can only attend two of the three days - can I still participate?
Due to the nature of the event, everyone is expected to participate all three days. If you have questions about a particular circumstance, please contact us.
  • Can I pay at the door?
No. Because the organizers of the event need to order food and supplies, payments must be made in advance. If you are unable to pay online or need an invoice sent to you - please contact us via email.
  • Is this event student friendly?
Yes! University and college students are encouraged to attend. Discounted tickets are available during checkout (must show a student ID when registering on the first day of Startup 48).
  • What type of ideas and/or startup types are normally at this event?
The goal is to create an MVP (Minimal Viable Product) within 48 hours. Many ideas for Startup 48 center around web services, apps, and technology. We have also had services businesses, and products where a mock-up of a functional product can be designed over the weekend.
  • Can I pitch an existing business/product idea?
No - because the goal is to take an idea and work as a team to create a minimal viable product you can not pitch an idea that already has been created. You are allowed (and encouraged) to research need and the market for your idea.
  • Am I expected to stick with my team and continue working on the idea after the event?
While most teams choose to continue working together, it is not required.
  • What should I bring to Startup 48?
All attendees are encouraged to bring their laptops, tablets, cell phones, etc. Wear some comfortable clothes, and be ready to collaborate and have fun! All meals, along with an assortment of beverages will be provided and are included with your ticket purchase. No alcohol is permitted at the event venue.
  • Is transportation and lodging provided?
Attendees are responsible for their own transportation and lodging. Free street parking is available, and there is a reasonably priced parking ramp directly behind the event venue.
